A suburb of Minneapolis, Chaska has a population of approximately 27,000. Its convenient location pairs a suburban feel with the convenience of being just 25 minutes west of the cities. Chaska’s origins date back to 1871 when it was first incorporated as a village. The high-quality clay found here helped the city become a thriving brick manufacturing center. When the St. Louis Railroad was built through the town in 1873, the town experienced rapid growth. 

Chaska is full of rich, restored historic sites but also offers a lot of modern design. The Italianate and Queen Anne architectural styles of homes found here reflect the rich history of the city.

Grab lunch or enjoy a casual evening out at La Hermosa Mexican Restaurant. Located on Chestnut Street, this popular joint specializes in traditional Mexican dishes at an affordable price.

If you’re ready to shop until you drop, head on over to the historic Downtown Chaska. From one-of-a-kind gift shops to galleries to entertainment options, Downtown offers plenty to see and do. There’s something for everyone here!

Things to Do

Chaska might be a small town, but it offers an impressive array of exciting things to do. You don’t want to miss the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Since its founding in 1958, this expansive 1,200-acre horticultural garden and arboretum has maintained a beautiful space for visitors to learn from and connect with nature. Stop and smell the roses during the spring, or come in December or January to stroll through the Winter Lights display.

Crooked Pint Ale House is the neighborhood restaurant and bar. Here you can warm up with delicious pub food, try your hand at curling, or rent the event room for special occasions. 

The Fire and Ice Festival takes place annually in July. Held in Fireman’s Park, this celebrated event brings the whole community together over music, food, beverages, and activities for the entire family. Likewise, the Chaska River City Days event is also held in July. This family-friendly happening is all about food, activities, parades, and disc golf.
